Hello,
I am Balbina Aprella, a Fashion Designer working at the intersection of dark aesthetics and functional construction. I recently graduated with dual degrees in Fashion Design and Fashion Merchandising from Long Beach City College.
My design philosophy centers on the physical architecture of a garment and the raw craft of construction. Currently working at a professional Tailor Shop as a Fitter/Assistant, I treat the atelier as a daily masterclass- constantly learning, refining my hand by developing a deep understanding of fit, complex alterations, and textile behavior.
My technical toolkit encompasses flat pattern drafting, dimensional draping on a dress form, and precise execution using industrial sewing machines.
Driven by a dark, moody, subversive aesthetic, a reverence for traditional craftsmanship, and exceptional tailoring; I create garments with weight, character and longevity. Never designing for the masses; but rather the narrative.
